Why We Started MEBAE‑In
We created MEBAE‑Inn with the hope that both Japanese and international travelers could experience the warmth and charm of a traditional Japanese home.
Rather than staying in a typical accommodation, we wanted guests to enjoy the feeling of living together with a real family — sharing meals, conversations, and the gentle rhythm of everyday life.
Kahoku City is home to wonderful farmers who grow delicious vegetables and fruits, fishermen who continue traditional fishing methods, and local artisans who create crafts using time‑honored techniques.
We wanted to introduce these people and their stories to our guests, and create a place where visitors can truly feel the beauty of this region.
MEBAE‑Inn は、日本の古民家のあたたかさや暮らしの雰囲気を、日本の方にも海外の方にも気軽に体験してほしいという思いから始めました。ただ泊まるだけではなく、まるで家族の一員になったように、食事を囲んだり、会話を楽しんだり、ゆったりとした日常の時間を一緒に過ごしてもらえたら嬉しいと思っています。
ここかほく市には、季節の野菜や果物を育てる農家さん、昔ながらの漁法を守る漁師さん、伝統の技でクラフトを作る職人さんなど、魅力的な人たちがたくさんいます。そんな地域の人々や暮らしの魅力を、ゲストのみなさんにも感じてもらえる場所をつくりたい。
その想いが MEBAE‑Inn のはじまりです。
About the Host
I’m a curious and adventurous person — a challenger who loves trying new things. Moving to Kahoku opened my eyes to the richness of rural life, and I wanted to share that joy with travelers from around the world.
My goal is to create a warm, welcoming space where guests can relax, feel at home, and connect with the local community.
私は好奇心が強く、新しいことに挑戦するのが大好きなタイプです。まさに“チャレンジャー”という言葉がぴったりだと思います。自然豊かな場所で暮らすことの豊かさや心地よさをかほく市に移り住んで、実感しました。その魅力を、旅で訪れる世界中の人たちにも知ってもらえたら嬉しい、そんな思いがあります。
ゲストのみなさんがリラックスしてくつろぎ、まるで自宅のように安心して過ごせる場所。そして地域の人たちと自然に交流できる、あたたかな空間をつくることが私の目標です。
Meet Jerry
Jerry is our gentle and friendly dog, and an important part of our family.
He loves greeting guests with calm affection and brings a sense of comfort to the house. Even guests who are not used to dogs often find themselves smiling around him.
ジェリーはイタリアから一緒にやってきた穏やかで人懐っこい性格の、大切な家族の一員です。
大喜びでお客様を迎えてくれて、家の中にふんわりとあたたかな安心感を運んでくれます。犬が得意でない方でも、ジェリーのそばにいると自然と笑顔になってしまうような、そんな優しい存在です。
Kahoku Introduction
Kahoku is a peaceful town surrounded by the sea, rice fields, and gentle countryside scenery. The nature here changes beautifully with each season — mornings begin with birdsong, and evenings are colored by stunning sunsets.
This area is home to warm and welcoming people: farmers who grow delicious seasonal vegetables and fruits, fishermen who continue traditional fishing methods, and local artisans who create crafts using time‑honored techniques.

While visiting famous sightseeing spots can be wonderful, here you can enjoy a slower, more personal stay — one that connects you with the local people and the natural surroundings.
